open the properties for the ff shortcut (on your desktop i guess? ) and add /profilemanager to the end...
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" /profilemanager
close the dialog and run FF from the new shortcut. youll see a Select profile dialog
create a new profile, change some settings, and open it again with the new profile.
if the settings stay, then some config files in your existing profile are corrupt. i can then tell you how to mive your bookmarks and saved passwords to the new profile

Copied over Bookmarks and Form Data.

you can copy over the extensions folder, bookmarks files, key3.db/signons.txt for passwords
