technically it couldnt be called the GT40 because another company already had that name trademarked for something...and interestingly enough,, the original was called the GT40 because it was 40" high but the new one is 44" high. So why not name it GT44? Because Ford sucks, that's why.

The GT500?
Funny story before I go to bed...I went to the UP of Michigan with one of my buddies last spring and saw a GT500 with manufacturer plates following a regular mustang GT convertible with manufacturer plates...they were like 10 feet apart, if that. No traffic at all. Undouvbtedly two FoMoCo employees doing some weekend testing. I wedged myself inbetween the two and then slowed down, trying to get the dude in the GT500 to floor it...but he just gave me a really really pissed off look, passed me with light throttle and got back behind the GT :chuckles:
