02 explorer limited 4x4 .....your thoughts....?
So I'm looking to buy a used vehicle, and Iwent to the local dealership and found

they're asking $11,995
my friend works there and can get me a discount, though not sure exactly how much.......but whatcha think?
I'm tired of a small fcuking integra......
or whatcha think of getting a car off ebay?

Personally I would stay away from Explorers. They are nice while they run but pop a head gasket and you are replacing the heads. The 4wd unit on them is ok not outstanding either. Transmissions are fair, do not tow with them unless you have the v8 model, the v6 tranny will blow up on you and they suck to replace. The electronics in them is fair with the usual culprit starting with the power windows, then it just grows slowly.

The heads are designed for failure...plain and simple english. If you blow a head gasket then you have to replace the heads because they warp instantly and almost 99% of the time. The heads will run you around $1200 plus labor.
Trust me I have seen it happen a couple times and one of them was my roomates Eddie Bauer model Exploder.

The only thing good about the Explorer is you can get a 4 year-old one for dirt cheap because Ford sells the things like Sears does refrigerators. Do you actually want to spend money on a 4 year-old refrigerator?
