difference between 2v. and 4v. pre-outs?

difference between 2v. and 4v. pre-outs?
what's the difference between the 2v. and 4v. pre-outs on cd players? and what are the pros and cons of each.....GO.

If all things are equal, having a higher voltage preout on your head unit means that the amp's gain can be kept at a lower level. The pro of this is that itll induce less noise into the system.

bah just get a 2v system and hook up a line driver.. 9v ftw

Line driver FTL. The more crap you add along the way, the more noise is likely to take get in. And what amp will he be using to ultilize that 9V?
4V is fine.

4V is fine.
line drivers are quite commonly used in SPL competitions :P Heh yes 4v is enough for most people, but the more is better! as tool man taylor says.
