most hdtvs are either 720p/1080i/1080p, so there will be scaling.
most people dont consider 480p hdtv. h:
most HDTVs are 480p/720p/1080i. 1080p isn't very common yet.
480p is usually just considered progressive scan, not HD. But really, 480p is good enough for me. I'm more interested in 16:9, if it has that, I'm good.

1080p is stupid for these "next gen" consoles anyways. A 720p game with good antialiasing will look way better than a 1080p native game that leaves out effects and details JUST to have the extra pixels and the honor of being "True HD" as it has been marketed.
480p is Enhanced Definition. The minimum requirement for HD is 720 lines.
Heck Resistance: Fall of Man, ps3's big opening title announced the other day that they wouldn't be 1080p because the ps3 didn't have enough memory for the textures in 1080. Good thing they're going to have those huge 50GB BD which are "neccessary" for next gen gaming instead of DVD9, and not have the internal memory to back it up.
Wii is going to be good... no doubt, how many times are you going to get up to use the full motion of the controller to use a golf club, shoot an arrow, etc.... Hopefully they'll have a way to play both the motion sensor and the buttons h:

not at all. if you want to swing a golf club, you can do so with the flick of a wrist, imitating the movement of a golf club. you don't have to stand up to do it unless you want to.

ummm... why not? pick up any remote control, and move it around while pushing buttons. it's not that difficult. i dunno about you, but i don't keep my controller stationary while playing games as it is.
