Default When the Iraq War hits home...

Today our city buried it's first casuality. He graduated from our high school about 4 years ago. He was incredibly active and very well liked.

Our entire school lined the streets while the body went by. 1700 kids all holding flags. The crazy part? It was completely silent. It is a known fact in our school that impossible to get us all quiet during assemblies. But this was completely different.

Has the war hit home with anyone here?

None of the 60 or so enlisted members of my graduating class have passed away while in the military, but about 10-15 have died in car accidents, drug overdoses and other accidental deaths.

Our school has a problem with suicides. We have abour 3 or 4 a year. We just had another on Monday. It was a senior too and very popular.

It has been a rough week for our school.

I'm not sure how many people from CT have died in the war. I know a popular guy from the next town over just came home because he was shot in the face and the bullet exited the back of his neck. He survived and had surjery and came back to Salem.
