Default verizon DSL

so I got my home phone hooked up and I decided to go with DSL since im going to get direct tv and only pay 10 bucks a month vs 40.00 bucks for broadband DSL

These morons ( Verizon ) told me that when my home phone is activated (10/16/06 ) the DSL service would also be in service.
So I called Verizon last night and they told me ohh that the scheduled ready date is oct 26. Meanwhile the modem hasnt been shipped out to me yet.

The original service I set this up with could of told me that i would have to wait another two weeks. :madr:

So this morning I get this stupid email from verizon

Dear FELIPE DOMINGUEZ,

Verizon Online is checking the availability of DSL service for telephone line 718-894-xxxx. We are looking forward to bringing the power of Verizon Online DSL to your home or business.

Whether you are requesting service for the first time or moving your service to another line, Verizon Online DSL requires that your new phone line meet certain technical requirements. Please note our DSL service is not available in all areas and is subject to circuit availability and final verification by Verizon. We will continue to update you via e-mail on the status of your order.

You can check the status of your DSL order and find answers to your DSL installation questions online at http://www.verizon.com/dslorderstatus

Thank you for choosing Verizon Online.

Sincerely,

Verizon Online

since the building has direct tv for 10 bucks a month, i would opt for DSL since its cheaper than cable @ 34.99 vs I think its 45.99 through timewarner. So if i get a cable modem then i'd have to get television cable also through time warner also.

I've had Verizon DSL at my mom's house when I was living there and I have it at my apartment now and I've never had a problem with it. Maybe they're just rolling it out in your area?

again...here comes a rant.

So now my service ready date was the 27th. I get an email at like 1030am confirming the line is now active. So I get home and see that the DSL light isnt on. I call verizon pissed off at this point. I basically told them I dont want this shit anymore. I havent been a customer for not even a month and I've been getting nothing but run arounds. I want to cancel this now!. I kept telling them that if they cant fix it within the hour im going to go pick up a cable modem instead. Verizon tells me that im not getting a signal from the C.O to my home. A tech will contact me within the next 5-7 business days. ( So far have no broadband for 3 weeks,..and i tend to work from home )
I hung up on verizon and went to pick up my friend. Came back to my house like 2 hours later and my DSL is now working....hmmm.....I guess someone forgot to turn the friggin switch on at the C.O.

I can truly say that i must be real close to the central office because its pretty fast. Faster than the cable at my parents home.
