I just want to make sure I do this right.

Lets call my C: drive, Lesley, and my new drive Jennifer. So I want to toss out Lesley and replace her with Jennifer. Jennifer is bigger than Lesley, so everything from Lesley will fit into Jennifer.

So I dont have Norton Ghost, but will be using this. So all I have to do is use that program to copy everything from Lesley onto Jennifer. Then I can unplug Lesley, then put in Jennifer in her place? Then I can reboot and everything will be just fine right?

provided that everything is captured and transfers immaculately then you're OK

We had some corrupted images before using Norton Ghost, but we didn't find out until we dump it back onto the system....kinda sucks

 

theoretically, it should work h:

Anyway to figure out if the image is 100% ok?

 

How long does ghosting take..............say if the old drive was an IDE at 200gb and the new one would be around 320gb SATA? It'd only be as fast as what the IDE ribbon could transfer....right?

 

i havent tried acronis, but it or other software can copy from Les to Jen in one step

Leslie is master... put jennifer in as Slave.... have Leslie duplicate onto Jennifer.

 

Would that be the fastest way, putting them on the same cable?
