I'm actually considering selling the MR2 (after replacing the belt) and getting a BMW.

 which one? I'm almost set on an E36 M3 this spring.

Ideally, an E36 M3 as well. However, I would also settle for a mint E36 328iS.

Not me h: I really, really want an Estoril Blue 96-99 in great shape with around 100-150k miles. The VANOS failures and rear shock mount drama scare me but I'll just have to have the car inspected thoroughly. Hopefully I'll be able to afford proper preventative maintenance so I never get stranded.

Yeah, the reliability factor makes me hesitant.

Yeah me too, especially ince my Accord has been so relatively trouble free. The only real issue that concerns me is the VANOS failure, since it's a costly fix. I guess the t-stat, radiator neck and rear shock mounts are all very prone to failure but are all pretty cheap to fix but very expensive to repair if they're broken and not fixed. I've heard that the E36 M3 is one of the most reliable BMW cars ever, and I have a buddy who has 150k on one and only has to do routine maintenance...so I'm not that worried :dunno: Plus there are 2 guys at school here who have E36 M3's and they're both pretty cool, so if I got one I'm sure they'd help me work on it.
