You have to open up your ipod screen in iTunes and hit disconnect.
It will always say do not disconnect while plugged into the computer.

Not if you dont use Itunes it wont.

Jess, use winamp to manage it, 1000000x better

If you do unplug it prematurely, press and hold the middle button and the top button (simultaneously) for about 10 seconds. This reboots the ipod. The people at the mac store say it helps. Whateva.

quick fix......throw it out the window and go pick up a creative zen.
