she cut her leg almost 4 years ago, and never let the wound heal. she would lick and chew on it whenever left alone (i.e. at work etc...). She's had an elizabethan collar along with a neck brace on her head for the last 4 years... to keep her from chewing on her leg, yet she would still get to it. Her leg got infected and the vet could do nothing. So we've bandaged it up for the last couple years, it would heal.. then she would just lick it completely raw again. frustrating.

On top of this, she was extremely protective of my mom, and has attacked both my sister and i, and attacked our other dog last week. She had her good days, where she would appear to be almost completely normal, and other days were she would be completely crazy. It was like having a child 24/7... and with training classes, etc.. nothing helped. The vet wanted us to put the dog to sleep when she was only 6 weeks old when she began showing signs of this behavior... 6 years later.. she's gone. Its sad. She was a good dog otherwise, but she's more peaceful now than she ever was.

Sorry to hear that. Was she part chow? I had a part female chow/shepard mix that died just recently and she looks just like her. Generally the same markings, same curly tail, part purple tongue? She was 8 years old and exhibited the same agressive behavior yours did.
