or a light tent as ive also heard it called? for doing photography of objects and/or product? i just built a small desktop lightbox tonight at home for about a grand total of 69 dollars. i will be using it for work for product pictures, anyone here ever use one and have any little hints on best ways of light placement?

This is the lightbox that I know of, but it's probably different from what you're talking about.
