Default What's the difference between DUI and DWI?

Drugs vs. alcohol?

I've always wondered this.

Driving under the influence......Driving while intoxicated.

I thought the first one was when you are at a legal ammount of consumption while driving, and the second one was where you are flat out drunk while driving? probably wrong.

DWI is more alchohol specific, and is an older term, I believe. DUI encompasses it all, and is used more now.

I could be wrong, though.

It's not different levels. CA uses DUI for anything above the legal limit. Anything under that limit isn't considered anything.

Dubby might be right.

I think in CA as long as you blow higher than a 0.08 you're legally shitfaced.

edit: Thanks Bert.
