CARB stamp? If not, and they make you go to a test only, they're going to make you take it off. See if you can find stock exhaust cheap, and switch it out afterwards.

you'll be fine with a header as long as it has a CARB EO (CARB= California Air Resource Board). Every mod in CA needs to be passed by CARB to be smog legal.
