I painted mine...here's what I did.

Clean the rims thoroughly, then degrease them...I used rubbing alcohol.

Get some 2000grit sandpaper, and wet or dry sand them so that the surface is hazy, and the paint can stick. If your tires are still on the rims, use 3x5 index cards stuck in between the tire and rim to protect the tires from being painted.

Do a coat of primer. Wait for 30+ minutes and let it dry.

Do a very light coat of color. This coat should not completely cover the surface, your later coats will fill in the spots. Let it sit for 15 minutes, but not dry completely.

While the first coat is still tacky, do a 2nd coat. This time do it a little bit thicker, and cover the entire rim surface with color. It should still be light though, and if you get any runs wipe them immediately. Let it dry for 30+ minutes.

Do a 3rd coat of color, let it completely dry and setup for 1 hour.

After this, I did 3 light coats of clear with 30 mins dry time in between. After the last coat, let the rims sit for a few hours before installation.

Make sure you do this in a well ventilated area. I suggest that you use Duplicolor instead of Krylon, as the spray nozzle is MUCH better. Krylon comes out spotty, but Duplicolor comes out even.
