That is a fascinating concept. Can you also divulge information on the differences of a batting and slugging average?

I believe slugging is an average of all hits, where each type of hit is given a number of points and then averaged by the total number of atbats. Singles = 1 point, doubles = 2 points, triples = 3 points, and homeruns = 4 points. Batting average is just a percentage of all hits to at bats.

For example, if a batter has 200 at bats, and hits 10 singles, 10 doubles, 10 triples, and 10 homeruns, it would be:

(10 + 20 + 30 + 40) / 200 = 0.500

Slugging = total number of bases divided by total number of at bats

That's amazing. Can you please explain Einsteins theory of relativity to me?

same thing...points = bases. 4 points = 4 bases. Comes out to the same figure. The reason I don't like saying it as total number of bases is because it may confuse those who get on with a single then steal 2 bases and think that = 3 bases

Make each word under 2-syllables, talk slow, and use hand gestures. I'll get it.

Yeah, but stolen bases are in no way related to at bats.
