just got back from the Allman/Petty show-- it was quite awesome.
the allman brothers band played a full set starting at 815 and ending around 10 after a 10 or 15 minute extended jam of "jessica" and they were on par with the rest of the shows they have done. all in all they were the allman brothers.
petty suprised me. instead of pulling all the tracks of his new album (a-la pearl jam last may, what a dissapointment that was) he decided to play not only all the songs you'd expect from a petty set, but other blues songs from bands that inspired the formation of the heartbreakers 30 years ago. infact i think he played only one or two new songs, one of which was saving grace, which has already come into heavy rotation on the radio.
if you have a chance to see these two together and this is your type of music i'd definatly suggest you take up the offer.

Yeah I've heard both bands seperately, ages ago and they were great. I can see where they would make a pretty good show of Southern Rock and Blues, especially if they are exploring their roots.
