Waiting on title
I just purchased a car from an individual the other week. (If you know my story this is a relief to me!) The guy told me the title was sent out last tuesday to my bank (usaa) from his bank (va credit union). My bank said that he was supposed to send the title to me but they would forward it to me if they receive and put a flag on my acct about it. So I called my bank today they said they still didn't receive the title yet. (I was supposed to get the title in 7-10 days and it is coming upon the end of that timeline). Should I try to get my bank to call his bank to see wtf is going on? I know if I call up there they won't tell me anything. USAA is also really good about things like this and I just think the damn credit union is slow. I'm calling his bank right now to see if I can see if it's even been sent  To my new car sitting in the garage for a damn week and I can't drive it.
when I got my GSR it was a theft recovery from NoVa, I fixed it in a couple days and the JY gave me this number, said to call and ask for julie, tell her______ gave me her nuber and that I needed 30 day tags. got them in the mail like three days later. 30 days past and still no title, ended up doing that for 3 months even after I moved to PA. Really shady, but I finally got the title. :ugh: Probably wouldn't do that again...
So he had a loan on the car and you basically bought the car so he could pay it off and his bank is supposed to send the title. If that's the case than you should have requested a copy of the title to make sure it's a clean purchase. The title is what tells you the car is legit and not stolen.
weird when i went through this the previous owners went to my bank to do the paperwork. then my bank called and verified all the information with their's, then the title was sent to my bank. they wouldnt let us do the transaction outside of a branch office. good luck though, imo it sounds like one or both institutions are lagging

I got my loan through usaa. They are based in TX and don't have banking centers else where. They are kind of like a credit union. Thats why I've had to do everything over the phone/internet.
