Default Bikes...Italy versus Japan

Why is it that a lot of people are obsessed with Ducati, Aprilia, and such bikes?
Japanese bikes (Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda) with the same displacement put down more power, therefore making it seem that more people would want those. Do italian bikes handle better? Or do people just like them because of their looks? Possibly because they are more rare? I've always wondered this.

/\ HE HE. Japanese bikes are much more reliable than Italian bikes. It's like it is with cars. They buy them for the name, for the most part. For me it's Suzuki all the way.

styling. Look at a Ferrari, then look at an early hatchback Civic.

I think some like them just becasue of the name. The same goes for cars, such as BMW, Mercedes, etc. Japanese bikes are probably better perfomance wise, reliabity, etc. , and a heck of a lot cheaper.

RC51 > Ducati 990

I prefer Japanese sport bikes because I would never own a bike for the name.
