Default good price or not???

so my transmission in my 98 accord is starting to have slipping issues after 185k miles. my friend bought a h22 motor/trans from some company importing them from japan & used the motor. apparantly about 30k miles on both.

he told me he'd take $300 for the transmission & i checked a few transmission places around here for an install qoute & got a ballpark of $400.

so, are either or both of those good prices??

it's an automatic......

so it's either rebuild (~1600) or replace w/ new (~2200) or jdm import

& yes, i had planned on replacing the torque converter while doing it all. if my buddy has the one that came w/ the setup, i'll use it or should i just get a new one??
