I say try it out and see how the ladies like it, then if you don't get a compliment, shave it off.

I always feel weird going into the inbetween stages. The "little past scruffy looking and you can tell they're trying to grow something" stage. I don't think they'll connect though. I'll wait and find out about my job then attempt. My goatee took about 2 weeks for it to look something more than I forgot to shave. That was last year though. My stache might come in a little faster. I'm not sure. I'm also self concious about people noticing and saying something. If I could disappear for a week or two, then I would.

Goatee off? If they say something, I will. Its kept up though, not just scruffy wild growing.

You have to be ready for a goatee. People look at you differently when you have one. Sign of maturity.
