Default Tomorrow at this time my Mom will be...

...the proud owner of two brand new, state of the art ceramic hips. The surgery will last about 4 to 5 hours and she will be in the hospital for 10-12 days. She has been wanting this surgery for about 10 years, and needed it for longer. It's good she has waited so long because the technology of hip replacement surgery has improved greatly with the introduction of ceramic ball and cup hips. These are far greater than the prev used stainless and plastic which have an average life of 25-35 years but ceramic are said to last possibly 70-100 years. Im a bit nervous but more excited that she is getting it done. Basicly she has not been able to stand up out of a chair without help for the last 5 years and now she will likely be able to do things that she hasn't been able to do for the last 20 years.

Oh wow. I know all will go well.

My friend had this done back in December, the road to recovery was long ... but he's in absolutely no pain or discomfort doing normal things now.

yeah, i feel very postive about the surgery and she is in great spirits because she knows how much better this will make her life. She had the choice of doing one at a time but opted for both at the same time so she wouldnt have to go through 2 procedures. Only thing that scares me is that if she bends past 90 degrees she could dislocate one or both hips. I guess this happens sometimes because they feel so natural even after a few weeks that people literally forget and try to pick somthing up off the floor. I confident she will be fine though..
