What are the league settings about picking up and dropping players through waivers during the season?

I was just wondering if there were any restrictions to picking up players as free agents, or a date deadline that eliminates FA pickups....cause I didn't see anything.

FA period usually ends around the 11th or 12th week I believe. Anyone can pick up a FA but if someone drops a player, they hit waivers for 2 days at which point the highest waiver priorty will get the player. If the player clears waivers, then anyone can grab them.
