Well, my company gave me a copy of vista like 4 months ago. Now microsoft has been offering a free download beta copy. So I downloaded that and i plan on creating a partition on my server at home ( desktop pc with server 03 ).
Based on what ive read with comparision to windows xp, it looks alot more cosmetic and very user friendly. Actually theres a build in chess game that looks great and thats my basis of installing it so i could play it lol..

Anyone running vista on a partition that may wanna inform me of any potential problems I may run into.

 

My brother tried the Beta 2 version and said it was complete crap. He said it was a huge mistake installing it on his machine.

I don't know if I'd ever install anything beta definitely not an OS anyways unless it was a spare PC that you don't mind having to reformat if necessary.

it runs like crap and crashes all the time. i had it running on a laptop and it was a dismal failure (dispite the lack of drivers and whatnot). unless you have a gig of ram its going to run like shizit. commit charge is over 512 all they did was remove the work "My" from everything and take nvidia's transpartency thingy and put it everywhere. the chess game is pretty cool though...... in conclusion vista = brutal distruction of your computer

i have had it running as my primary os an it only crashed once! I have an HP 1.8Ghz 512MB RAM 250GB HDD DVD+/-RW Can run slow at times, but over all pretty good. I also have the beta 2 version.

 

I think it's too early in the game. I'd throw it on it's own hard drive, if you have a second smaller one in there to mess around with. To put it on your main HD even with a partition could jack you up.

 

you need atleast a 30Gb hdd or else the Setup won't let you install
