Default Canon or Nikon Digital Camera

So, my Elph (S400) is starting to show its age and is also having some issues with reading the memory card. I have had this thing for three years and it is built like a tank, but it is time to replace it. I am looking at the following cameras

Canon SD630

Nikon S6

Any opinions? Other suggestions?

Canon. That Nikon looks like a cheap toy to me. I have never liked the looks of those.

check out epinions.com too

I don't know much about Nikon as a brand, but my Canon SD400 is pretty much flawless. (Perfect controls, lots of options, size is a +, cheap media, slick design)

Too bad the flash is a little weak and it seems that you need a lot of light for the auto flash to turn off on its own

strong flash + small design (proximity of flash to lens) = red eye.

I think this is what's plaguing the Sony T series.

I have an old Canon A70 and it's been perfect for the 3 years that I've had it. When it's time for a new camera I'll definitely be sticking with Canon for sure.

Yeah I read both reviews and looked at the sample shots. The Canon's picture quality is >> the Nikon. The Canon was definitely sharper over a greater part of the picture.

If your willing to spend the money, consider the newer Canon SD700

4x optical zoom (most of the SD line is 3x), image stablization and a 2.5" LCD. I've got an SD300 that I'm very happy with it and I've been considering upgrading and getting a second camera and this one looks good.

The extra optical zoom and image stabilization just aren't features that warrant me to spend the extra money. I would rather forgo those and take the 3.0" screen of the SD630
