They have detectors like that but it's stupid because trucks and cars will block your front and rear reception.

Nothing online will overshadow the 10+ people that I know that own V1's and rave about them constantly. The ability to upgrade alone makes it worth it, imo

I'll never buy a radar detector.

get it fixed? the service fee is only $45 (plus shipping), unless you have abused or modified yours. i remember talking to a service rep over the phone, who said they just replace the circuit board with a new one anyway; so maybe it's the same as an upgrade. but i could very easily be wrong about that.

i have to get mine fixed.. it's detecting fine, but the display is so dim, you can hardly see it.

I've been debating whether to do that or splurge for the upgrade. But I've been driving the speed limit for the past few weeks so I've done neither.

I'd rather buy new. If you buy used, make sure you run the serial on the V1 website to see how much the upgrade costs. It varies from $85-$189 depending on serial.

Mine was due for the POP upgrade, I just haven't had the chance to send it in.

POP radar is kinda useless. even the manufacturer of POP radar guns says that tickets shouldn't be issued with a POP reading alone.
