yeah you might want to look into that, probably not so much weather as wiring problem. get a volt meter and see what kinda voltage and current you are talking about between the ground terminal of an outlet and the door.

I was trying to get some grilling in before it started to rain, so I was outside on the back patio. We had a power surge... then a few minutes later it started raining. The patio was wet and I literally ran in past the screen door and I brushed against it.
My arm was wet, I was standing in wet and it was electric. It literally took me to my knees and I am shaking now.

Yea... Canada IS in Florida

I dont have a volt meter. But if it made my legs feel like jelly then I have a feeling its was kinda strong.
although the chace is remote, getting struck by lightning is pretty nasty. if you do survive your nervous system is pretty much toast. my gf's grandmother was struck and died. needless to say my gf HATES thunder storms.
