there is not one single case of any one person ever dying or overdosing on marijuana. its actually a fruit thats ment to be eaten, but most people prefer the mental high thats associated with smoking it rather then the physical high when it is eaten

one person has died but it was due to a asthma attack and being stupid and taking to much smoke at one time. so they dont count it, i wouldnt either.

i love the lame excuses people give when defending pot.

"alcohol is so much worse!" so?
"no one has ever died or overdosed!" even if that's true, so? there may be no deaths from an overdose, but how much do you want to bet there are plenty due to the actions of being under the influence?

i knew plenty of people in college who were brain dead idiots because they smoked too much pot. don't give me none of this nonsense that it doesn't affect people. you seriously can't be that naive.

and by the way, here are some random clips i'm finding, (google it, if you want sources)
Marijuana is now one of the leading causes of drug-related emergency room episodes. In a 1999 report of 664 drug-related deaths, 187 of them resulted from marijuana use alone.
In 1998, nearly 77,000 people admitted to emergency rooms admitted to using marijuana immediately prior to their injury or accident.
In 1995, 165,000 people entered drug treatment programs to kick their marijuana habit.
shocker!

im not going to argue with your points reno but i will point out that these are probably national numbers for one and also if you were to look at the similar figures for alcohol i guarantee it to be way worse. im not saying ur points arent valid but dont you think if we are going to allow people to drink alcohol in the amounts that the majority does then maybe we could allow people to smoke marijuana with limitations similar to those of alcohol. id also like to think that allowing consenting adults to smoke and posess certain amounts would make it more difficult for the dealers out there becuase now they no longer have a commodity, they now have something that anyone of age can purchase at the local party store.

oh and all those brain deads u see at college? i know plenty of people who are just as hooked and messed up because of alcohol...so its not just weed that does it.

i used to think it was a horrible thing that people smoked but as ive come to realize it really isnt all that horrible. i mean for gods sake if someone wants to go drink a fifth of liquer they can, or sit there and drink a thirty pack they can. they are only harming themselves. so why if someone wants to smoke a little pot and relax why cant they?

If alcohol / tobacco are legal, marijuana should be, too...

It's a personal choice to do with my body as I please...

If I can poison my liver with alcohol, or my lungs with smoke, what's the difference?

-Recent studies have shown that THC ( tetra-hydra cannabinol ), the active ingredient in marijuana tht get's you 'high' has acually been shown to stop and reverse the growth of malignant tumors in laboratory animals; and that marijauna smoke contains less than 1% of the carcinogens ( cancer causing agents ) than does tobacco...

Go ahead and tell me I read too much High Times...

I work for Fox News and we aired this story a few weeks ago...

the only institution that still seems to be challenging the levidity of beneficial marijuana use is the US Food and Drug Administration...

Even if it were legal, Marijuana has seeds in it, thus no way to prevent an individual from growing it, and no way to effectively tax an industrialized marijuana industry.

Marijuana was originaly made illegal in the 1930's, since most of the marijuana at the time came from mexico...Immigration of any kind was seen as a huge political obstacle at the time; so, make the mexican vice illegal, get rid of the mexicans...

George Washington ( you know, the father of our country? ) grew cannabis sativa (GOOD pot ) on his plantation...

So did:
Thomas Jefferson
Benjamin franklin
James Madison
Samuel Adams
John Hancock

Any of these names sound familiar? They all signed the Declaration of Independence...

And they all got high...

Pot should be de-criminalized, not legalized, and the only reason that it never will be LEGAL, is because fat, rich, greedy white men own more than 95% of the tobacco industry...

...they also contribute more than 75% of all campaign funds for presidential elections

Oh, yeah, and George W. Bush was ( is ) a coke head, and the FDA was on the verge of announcing the BENEFITS of marijuana use among teminaly ill paitents--then this prick was elected--and all of a sudden this country is back in the days of "Reefer Madness"...what a joke...

Search "Reefer Madness"--it was a 1950's propaganda film detailing that 'reefers' (tokers) were rapists, murderers, and thieves, only for the reason that they used marijuana...

I used to smoke a lot of pot and the worst that ever happened was I ate a whole box of donuts and got clogged up h:

Booze, on the other hand, took control of my life for a period 5 or 6 years, caused me some pretty significant mental, physical, professional and social hardships. That 5 year period probably took a good 10 years off my life.

That is my first-hand experience, and why I believe ill-informed and hypocritical people are all that's keeping it illegal.
