The Truth About Cars: A Bad Joke
Anyone ever go on this website? http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/index.php
They're going to charge the "discounted rate" of $50 a year for a subscription to their articles  Unbelievable. Their articles are often written more for attention/entertainment than usual info and they don't even take their own pictures of the cars...they just use really small stock photos. I can get content FOR FREE that's 100 times better at C&D.com, edmunds, or R&T.com. A subscription to a major mag is like $10/month and is far superior to TTAC's crap. I can't believe their arrogance in thinking people will pay that kind of money for their shitty website.

Haha he responded.
You have a point-- and some real anger thing going on. What is it about
TTAC that pisses you off so much? That we suck? That we dare charge
money-- as opposed to whoring ourselves to advertisers? Seriously, let
me have it with both barrels. I'm sure you speak for thousands of
potential readers, and I want to know what we're doing wrong or could do
better.
Meanwhile, while I would suggest that we offer something radically
different from the buff books, and VASTLY better writing, if you don't
get it by now, well, clearly, it's not for you. That's cool. Thank God
we live in a free market society.
Keep an eye on us though. Great things are going to happen.

This guy has his head about 3 miles up his ass. VASTLY better writing? If you like jerking off to words with more than 3 sylables (sp, fuck spelling that one correctly) I guess.

I've never heard of TTAC, they must really suck if they are charging money. Good writing draws readers and then advertisers. It's the way a free market society works.

I liked them for a while, but that Robert Farago guy has a major hard on for GM's impending doom. The GM deathwatch series was entertaining for about the first 5 installments, but now that we're up to GM Deathwatch Episode 40 or whatever, I wish he'd find something else to write about

i like TTAC...it has some of the best articles on cars...i think much better than C&D, MT, autoweek, with the exception of some great pieces in automobile and honda tuning (just kidding on the latter)
one real reason why i like it is that they tell the real truth and do not have to play to a mfgrs agenda as they do not rely on any advertising...once you get in the business you'll learn that your paid sponsors have a say in your opinion...that's life
in fact i'll write them a letter saying they are a good side for rhetoric on what we are all thinking but hardly anyone will really write about it
gm death watch is very entertaining as it really distills the PR blitz of gm's ass kissing media (recall gm pulls advertising when someone makes a remark about its cars or mgmt decisions...gm als trys to pay off writers to only focus on positives)
free market, indeed...you can do what you want but i'll gladly pay TTAC $50 for unbiased opinions and writing

Thanks for the feedback. In response to reader feedback, we're offering a-- sorry, don't want to go into sales mode. Suffice it to say, I shouldn't have capitalized that "vastly." Forgive the hubris, but your man really did set out to anatagonize me (NB: nothing is ever my fault). Anyway, we're going to try something new. If it doesn't work, at least I can still look myself in the mirror and wonder why I insist on eating cheese danish. If you know what I mean.
