Internet Issues
Okay guys, I am trying to figure this one out. My current roommate (who is moving out shortly) is an IT snob and makes it difficult to work with on internet issues. He has a hardware router with a D-Link access point and a booster antenna.
Recently, with both my internal wireless card and an old Orinoco 802.11b PCMCIA card, I will remain connected to his access point, but the internet connection will drop in and out VERY frequently. I roamed over to an unsecured network one night with my internal NIC and all the issues stopped. I then tried my Hawking HWU54D 6db gain USB network adapter on his access point and there were no issues as well.
Does anyone have any idea what the hell could be going on? Also, can someone recommend a good consumer router to purchase?

You can't go wrong with the Linksys WRT54G. Newegg has them for under $60 i believe. Just read up on the available 3rd party firmware upgrades and you'll have a nice and effective router for cheap.
