Well, back in the day it was easy to find at http://www.bb4win.com but they dropped the original BB UI and started distributing xoblite (which is crap imo). However, after a long time of searching, I finally found my favorite BB interface:

Go here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...group_id=56991

Scroll down to "Blackbox for Windows"

Install the 0.0.90 version, than install the upgrade right above it.

It took me a while to learn how to fully customize everything the way I wanted it. It takes some playing around with. You'll discover a lot of things accidentally and alot of things are obvious. There are also tons of plug-ins available that act as widgets for the interface. All the plug-ins start with "bb" so it should help you to find them on the net.

yeah, i set up one of those mac-like widget proggies on my PC, and it just became an annoyance, so i disabled it.

i too don't get the point when you actually do real work on your machine. i mean, i like to use my computer as more than just an information ticker, and as more than just a quick, heads-up access to useless little programs (whatever happened to shortcuts?).

i think it's a toy more than anything.

I hear you there. I still use it, but I just don't like the way it grays out the screen and stops everything else from working for the moment it's up. Not to mention the machine I work on everday is a DUAL 867mhz G4. DASHBOARD on the DUAL 2.5ghz G5 is WAY more fluid. We only use that machine for Final Cut Pro, and not a photoshop machine like mine. It's just easier to have the weather, my biorythm chart and my girly chillin. A gig and a half of ram, and I'm sailin

You can mess with the icons by right-clicking the default one that opens your c:/ in the top left corner. In the drop down go to:

Global Settings > Create New Icon

Once you create it you can pick what icon picture it uses and what command it will execute. If you want it to be a shortcut to a file path, you need to edit the .rc file in the plugins directory of your blackbox folder. It should be in the BBIcons subdirectory.
