I thought that the bolt holding the tensioner pulley on broke off...I was surprised to find that it had just backed itself out somehow. I was driving down the residential street to my house and heard something fall onto the pavement...popped the hood when I got home, saw the tensioner pulley just chillin.

I just got a new bolt from the dealer...so I knew it'd be proper thread pitch, length, diameter...and it has a portion near the top that is unthreaded.

which bolt? on mine, the nut came off the bolt that goes through the pulley...causing the pulley to come off. At the parts store, they just offer the whole assembly itself, whereas the bolt appears to be a piece of the tensioner and in good shape.

Ohhhhhhhhh. My bolt holding the tensioner pulley bracket to the AC bracket fell off...and the entire bracket and pulley fell off. I read your post wrong.
