Elfen Lied is good, really good in my opinion... but its nowhere near Lain or EVA. These two (among others) really redefined what anime is.

Have you read any of the manga? Oishii is scanlating it, but they're only just now done with book 5/12. Unlicensed still.

From what spoilers I've accidentally read, the storyline diverges greatly at the Mariko arc. Plus I've paged through my "J-spec" volume 11 to get the general idea... Found out I can't read kanji at all. It took my a while to get used to Okamoto Lynn's style, but I've grown used to it now and kinda enjoy it.

I started to but quickly got distracted by a DS, DVD burner, ... All the while, my list of 'anime to buy' has been growning. Damn Best Buy and their high prices.
