newport mesa was $95/day and just went up to $100/day
long beach pays $130/day
it varies between district, obviously long beach pays a lot more and it just went down this year. last year it was $170/day..too bad i missed that
when i sub for elementary you basically work for 5 hours with an hour lunch/recess. middle school is a lot better because i work between 4-5 hours depending on the school and i get a free period to just sit around and look at a magazine. if somebody needs a sub during my free period, then i make an extra $21.54 an hour.. so that day i will make $150 for 6 hours of babysitting kids

oh and pay system.. newport mesa does a sign in where once you pick up the job on the phone, you get a number that goes with the job so after you sign in on the site, they automatically pay you when pay day comes. and for long beach, i have to carry around a time card and have the secretary of the school fill it out each time and i turn it in every month.

i was hoping i would find a full time job for 05-06 school year after i graduated. kinda sucked cause i worked so hard to graduate with my b.a. and credentials in 4 years and couldn't find a job when i came out. i wanted to take a year off and go back for my masters. so now, hopefully i can get a job next year and go back for my masters a year after that. i was limiting myself to elementary school which was a mistake sinces there's like no openings. elementary teachers never leave!! i don't watch king of the hill..i had to look her up h:

Good luck with whatever you wanna do!

As a backup plan, I want to teach science to middle school students at the school I work for now. :run:

I know how that goes...I couldn't find a job for over a year. So now I'm doing something totally unrelated, but I like it better.

Good luck with the interview!

I know they will. We have a younger Korean science teacher who is about 25 years old. Pretty cute. All the Asian boys are all over her...:reechy:
