And sure it's numbers suck. But could it have some potential in say 3 to 5 years? It's basically got an xA/xB motor in it, but will Toyota lovers try to packa tC motor in it in a few years and take it autocrossing?

From a purely aesthtic standpoint, the Yaris hatch looks hideous. :a:
I hate the center-mountedl instrument pod and the interior looks and feels cheaper than the Fit. And I'm willing to bet a pint that the steering is numb and overboosted, just like the Corolla.

IMO, the Yaris is just another commuter appliance. It's sad to see..
I remember when Toyota made cars that had soul and spirit. h:

well when i see camrys and avalons driving down the highway and at every bridge joint there is excessive tire hop or when with 1 or 2 people in the back seat the ass end looks as if it will stuff the ground if it goes over a larg enough bump, or when i helped my friend replace is springs in a 99 camry (only 4 years old at that time) because of sag (oh and we had to replace LCA bushings at the same time because you could jiggle the shocks around freely) it leads me to believe that the quality of these products is of inferior quality when i have owned and operated various other vehicles of several different brands and not experienced even similar misfortune. I tend to think that in this situation it is not due to sheer luck that I have run across these experiences but more likely that they use cheap materials resulting in poor longevity and performance.... oh, i musn't forget that 99 camry had to have its cat replaced at 64k.

I think I like the looks of the Yaris Hatch, but that motor would have to go. When they get a serious options, I'll look at them. Just barely being able to outrun the sun, isn't going to cut it.

As for mileage, my dad's mustang Cobra was able to get 25 mph while getting 300hp, so why can't we at least get 200hp in a lighter car? I wonder how a 2-2.5L V8 would do:werd:

um...no. I'd take a Honda Odyssey or Mazda MPV over a Yaris any day of the week.

HKS and GReddy both make turbo kits for use on the xB, probably wouldn't be too hard to adapt to the Yaris.

why would tc's become the highest stolen cars? they don't have special engines. it's just the camry's 4 banger.
