3rd time is not the charm
Took my third car to my mechanic.
So now I have no clue what to do. I still really want a CRX but I've checked most of the dealers in my city and in the city about 30 minutes away. I might have to settle on a Civic hatch.
Ontop of all this some personal shit going on in my life and one of my friends lives.
- 1st: 91 CRX HF. Asking 2500 Ebay suspension, y8 mini me swap. Emissions incredibly high. I passed on that deal and now the girl is going to keep it and move to cali.
I spent $0 cause the mechanic felt bad. He did the emissions testing first. - 2nd: 91 CRX HF. Asking 1800 Small spots of rust, nothing eating through. Overall in decent condition. Mechanic hoisted it up and saw the unibody was bent to hell. It was bent up about 1 inch. I said fuck no. $8.75 for gas.
- 3rd: This morning. 89 CRX SiR. Asking 1500 Beautiful car. It was blue. Took it in and this one actually got all the way through. But there were somethings wrong. Torn boot, cylinder was leaking, driven pretty hard. Failed emissions(Carb was 2400. Limit is 180.) Been in minor accident. Leaky radiator. Low tranny fluid. Dirty oil in engine and overfilled. Car falls face flat when you accelerate hard. I talked to the mechanic and he said since I'll be replacing most of that already, see if I can get 800-1000 for it. I said, Ok and left after paying. Started going back to the dealer with my dad following. On the freeway whenever I would give it gas it would start lurching until finally it wouldn't accelerate at all. I figured it was just some shit with the gears so I got off the freeway. I made it about 20 feet onto the offramp when I only got engine braking. No acceleration at all. It died on the side of the road. I got it to start and idle but when you tried to rev it, it would just die. The dealer finally came and said his mechanic would fix it. I told him, if he fixes everything, sure give me a call and I'll think about it. Spent $77.89 for testing. Oh and I cut my hand up from the shifter because the fuck that used to own it decided to make his own short shifter and cut it.

I think I'm going to start looking at regular hatchs and perhaps some 2nd gen tegs.

The dealer just called and said they fixed the engine, his mechanic will fix the cylinder. I think I'm going to go down there, take it for a test drive and see what happens. Talk to the dealer, see what he'll take it down to and if I do decide to do it, get a written deal that if it fails emissions he'll fix it so it will pass. See what goes on.
Went back, it drove fine and I still really liked it. We made a deal for 1300 before registration and tax and they would fix the boot(new axel) and cylinder. I went got 1127 out of the bank in cash and my dad met me down there. He said registration was going to be around or a little over 100 then tax on everything for a grand total of over 1500. When he said that I stood up, said Thanks but thats alot more than I thought and you implied, turned and walked out. Fuck em. I'm ditching my search for CRXs unless something falls into my lap. Civic hatchs here I come!
