what would cause a router to spontaneously start resetting itself?

this thing has been rock solid for at least a year and a half, and now it's suddenly resetting itself constantly..

help!

nothing shoudl just cause that. sounds like there is a problem with the router itself...either try resetting or flashing firmware...other than that, if that doesnt work, i think it's just dying

oh yeah, d-link di-624

damn, that sucks if it's croaking. this router has been great up until now.

i did recently upgrade the firmware, but pulled it back once this crap started. but it seems like it's still happening.

Copy the configuration than wipe it and reconfigure (erase NVRAM).

Do a hardware memory reset according to the manifacturer's instructions.

Otherwise, time to buy a new router h:

yeah, i pulled the thing apart to check if any dust had accumulated, possibly causing something to overheat. however, it's pristene in there. design is simple, no obvious heatsinks to speak of, and not a spec of dust.

i put it back together, hit the reset button, and plugged it back in. however, it kept my settings, so the hard reset probably needs to be done while it's powered.

oddly enough though, it hasn't reset itself since i plugged it back in.

i'm still going to wipe the memory though..

i have had the same linksys router for 4 years and that thing is flawless. i would say most likely its the router. does your service support linksys? if so i can reccomend it because i know several others with the same router and have had the same performace as i have.

i've had the same problem with a d-link router. we couldn't figure out the problem, so we just had to get a new router. try buffalo - they make good stuff.
