Default acoustic guitar folks, need your help

how did you guys learn? i know how to play all the basic chords and i strum well, but im interested in learning to possibly do solos and work the scales to make my stuff sound more...good? lol. ive taught myself up til now through watching other people, asking how to play a certain chord here and there, and listening to music and tryin to figure out new strums.

but i wanna learn proper techniques, the fingering patterns for scales and finger picking. are there any good resources like books, online sites or whatever else that might be helpful? thanks doods.

and no stupid "fingering" jokes h:

i just play stuff until i like the way it sounds, adjusting the way i do things along the way. i mean there certainly is a right and wrong way but it's not rocket science

well im tired of just being mediocre. i feel like im at a level where yeah i can sound good doing what i do, but im very limited. it isnt rocket science, but i want to learn the proper way to do it.

id take lessons, but i dont have the money nor connections, which is why i was wondering if anyone else out there knew of effective ways that i could DIY.

practice. Run scales, etc. Need to get more dexterity in your fingers.
