disconnect the 2 plugs... and cross the wires marked.

this will pass the same signal between line 1 and 2.

connect the vonage box to any jack.. or outside to the crossed wires.

Okay, another question. That dangling wire in the basement from the upstairs jack - I connected the red and green wires to a jack I installed in the basement by the adapter. I disconnected the house from the phone company and connected the adapter to the new jack in the basement. I get dial tone, but upon picking up there are 4 quick dial tone pulses....

so you get a tone after disconnecting the phone company(verizon?) from the house?

Yes, when I plug the Vonage adapter into the newly wire phoned jack.

a stuttered dial tone usually indicates you have voicemail

you have to hit * after youre done with the voicemail menu


not exactly sure since we dont use vonage's voicemail
