im guessing its more important to these profs that their students are actually learning and capable of responding to questions during lectures and class time. id at least hope that getting a real education is more important to them than not giving a second thought about the students cuz theyre getting paid regardless. i think its a good move.

most, if not all, of my professors cared whether we came or not and no attendance policy in 90% of the classes. then again, these were mostly from my upperlevel classes. gen-ed classes were a bit different, but even the profs there took their material seriously. i liked it a lot :dunno:

schools get more money when kids get better grades which translates to the school is good and more enrollments

and from what i understand teachers get paid more for more students

I always took notes in a shorthand kinda way. When I got home after class, I'd re-write my notes VERY neatly in a seperate note book. Therefore, each 50 min class I had turned into a 100 min. I'd have good notes for the final. I think typing them AFTER class would be better. I'm totally bias, though, because I have these little tubes in my ears to balance out the pressure for fluid that builds up. My hearing can be VERY sensitive because of that, and I would zone out hearing people typing. I got to sit in the front of the class because of it, but it was still distracting.

i can't imagine what that's like. i only had a few classes where the professors took attendance or cared if students came to class. most professors didn't care if you came class and slept, too. more of the discussions were required, but still not a majority of them.

yeah it was great. definitely a lot more motivation to go to class, especially when it was really nice outside

active discussions were cool cuz almost all of them did a good job of keeping things on topic. lectures werent bad at all either. there were only a handful of classes where us students wouldnt say anything during class. then again, it could just have been the classes that i took that made the difference.
