Your avatar is messing with my head.

Yeah, no factory airbag, and I think around here no one cares or notices. What's really unsafe now is my reach. h:

OK all I am saying is to check the local laws and ask others in your area who have them if they have ever been hassled for their steering wheel. sometimes it is on the books and is just an "I want to fuck with you" kind of thing, but is still a legit ticket.

I'll look into it. But it probably wouldn't change me doing it if it was technically illegal. h:

These set ups are pretty damn expensive. I'm looking at just over $400 for the set up before shipping. :hs:

I havent seen anyone get in trouble for the steering wheel except at a emissions referee inspection station out of all places in CA.

I run the full NRG setup (short hub, quick release and lock) on my car. Great products and worth it for another layer of theft deterrent. As for safety issues, even though it is not legal for street use, the design is based off the Works Bell Rapfix racing releases which are used in Japan GT and circuit races which have pretty strict safety regulation. It shouldnt be safter nor more dangerous than your stock steering setup.

You can get it a lot cheaper than 400 bucks here: http://weaksauceparts.com/store/home.php?cat=243

::asiandood:: How does the quality of NRG compared to Worksbell? Does the quality of worksbell justify the extra 200 for the qr and an extra 100 for the lock?

i had a momo hub with the nrg qrh and a sparco steering wheel. i hated it because it stuck too far out and im used to just flicking my finger down to hit the turn signal or wipers but with this i had to reach out, i got the short nrg hub instead and then it broke in half and my horn started going nuts, super glued it back and its fine now, steering wheel sits right in front of the switches now and i havent had any complaints besides the first few issues. altogether for the setup i have now it ran me:
Sparco Extreme 2 Steering Wheel-$175
NRG Quick Release Hub-$70
NRG Short Hub-$80
Total-$325 all purchased on eBay

The NRG has the same quality as the Works Bell surprisingly. Im running the NRG version 2 quick release. The quality is solid and is similar to the Works Bell counterpart. I've seen and used both products before.

As for the lock, Im using the Works Bell. I bought the system about 2 years ago before NRG came out with their stuff. The quality, build and design are identical.

If you can't wire the car's horn to work properly, it may be deamed illegal, as the horn is considered part of the safety equipment.
