Default sticky icky...

How do you guys clean off the sticky residue that is left behind if you poorly remove a sticker? I just got a new laptop, and i removed one of the "feature" stickers, and I didn't do a great job, and there is that crappy residue left. I tried just using water, but it did jack

it is kinda of on the outside part of the screen. The "frame" if you will. It was just a sticker that said "widescreen- watch dvds and blah blah", and so I'm kinda afaid to rub too hard because it isn't the most stable part of the notebook.
