how do you close windows?

Windows: I usually hit the X. If that doesn't work I have to use task manager to kill it.
Linux: They usually have an X also. If that doesn't work I use ps -ax to find it and kill -KILL it.
Mac: It just closes itself. I didn't click anything, I didn't want it to close, I didn't even save. It's just gone.
