Default SATA Hard drive is pissing me off [computer gurus]

This is the 5th time reformating this hard drive because I constantly get this Disk Boot Failure everytime I turn on the computer. This is the first SATA drive I've ever owned and I also have a IDE drive hooked up in the computer. I've already run diagnostic and SMART on the hdd and there are no failures so anyways I'm trying a different install path.

Unplug the IDE drive
Reformat the SATA HD
Install Windows
Check if it works, I really just wish windows didn't take like 40 minutes to fully reformat and 30 min to install.

1. check the sata cable, they like to come unpluged. My old system liked to do that.
2. make sure bios is set to boot from sata.

I'm sure you've probably already done that but it never hurts to check. What motherboard are you using? Sorry I'm not much help I'll try to think about it to day and see if I come up with any answers.

This will make future installs alot easier.

Got it fixed seemed like a conflict with the IDE and SATA and the IDE trying to take precedence and not loading the SATA afterwards.
Thanks Fathergoat for the help though.

Mine was a nightmare installing as well. I was trying to install the system on a RAID 0 and I got the MB Drivers CD, made a floppy with the RAID drivers and for 2 straight hours couldn't figure out why the windows installer wouldn't detect my HD's. I would detect 1 if they weren't setup as a RAID but wouldn't find both. I finally realized that the 8-10 page section of the manual about RAID was for the PATA/IDE RAID controller and the 1/2 page blurb in the last 2 pages of book was for SATA RAID. Pain in my ass.

My SOYO MB won't even recognize SATA until the OS comes up. Pisses me off too because I wanted to make my SATA drive the system drive for speed. SOYO couldn't ever figure it out... and, yes, I did load the RAID drivers at the beginning of the OS installation. Glad you got it figured out.

nlite is the bomb diggity, yo. If anything it seems to make windows more stable for me by removing alot of usless resource hogging crap. I and my friends have been using it for a year or so. No one in my little circle has reported any problems with it. Plus it slipstreams drivers. NO floppy for my SATA!:yay:

glad you got it all running Anthony.
