Default power window switch broken... fix?

my friend's power window switch/regulator broke on her driver's side door. she has a 96 accord lx. she got a quote for $200 to fix it :eek4: is it something that we can just buy from like a dealer or parts supplier and swap out myself? how much should it cost to fix/replace something like this?

and i will post a pic of her... AFTER i get a helpful answer/solution.

What exactly stopped working? Window switch/regulator? Two different things, no?

The switch, as in the little lever? Or the regulator that brings the window up and down? If its the regulator, ask Aux, he replaced his numberious times :reechy: And yea, they get expensive.

I doubt very expensive on a Honda. My dad and I replaced my sisters once in her car(1985) and it was about 40 new.

Gotta pick-a-part in your town? $12 or $24 (can't remember) for a regulator in L.A. $38 for whole door.

its the regulator i guess....the thing that controls the window going up and down inside the door. (not the actual switch on the door panel).

I'd call a junkyard first. No need buying that new.
Now that's enough help. Time to exploit your friend by posting her pic.h:

Strip about 1" of wire from the leads of the switch... wet your finger tips.... hold onto the wires with the wet tips untill the window does what you want.
