good god man, $100k?

are these complete teardowns? Are you moving walls? What kind of materials are you buying?

I can only imagine seeing 100K if you're buying a shower with body jets, sauna, and TV ... but if it's a basic remodel with new tub, tiles, sink, and toilet .. there's noooooo way.

(same goes for the kitchen, what kind of appliances are you purchasing?)

a lot of that stuff, DIY with friends and follow up with beer and grilled food...

for instance:

drywall hanging & finishing = friends job
flooring = DIY or friends job
even installing cabinets and basic plumbing like sweating joints is DIY stuff... its really not hard.

only thing i wouldnt F with is electricity...

nothing is getting moved. I am adding 1/2 bath and wall to existing bathroom so its simple stuff. Only hard part is extending pipes to new toilet but thats not hard I don't think since bathroom is right there! I can do 90% of work myself but I don't have time since I work and I am on time frame. I swear every contractor I met is from Israel, wtf...

finding a good contractor in so cal right now is real hard'
cause of the fires from couple years back floods ect...
plus they are throwing up new houses everywhere, and apt condo conversions..
contractor work is plentiful, so all the hacks are out right now scraping up the crumbs and ripping people off...

:werd: my friend tried to do that to his house and he had no clue what he was doing. after that they only had one room in the house with power and had tons of extension cords running from that room until they got someone to fix the problem :chuckles: his mom was pissed
