but how is it cold "brewed" dont you have to heat it first, then let it cool so as it will extract the tea

 

You can, but you don't have to. It just takes longer and isn't quite as strong, which is why on tea bags they tell you to use 1 bag for 8 oz of hot water or 2 bags for 8oz of cold.
