Default I need an opinion

So I went to look at a 92 Honda civic SI last night and it was nice. It had a little body damage a cracked windshield but other than that it was pretty clean. No modifications. The only thing is , is that it has a salvage title. (It was stolen and recovered). The blue book says its worth about 2500 with a clean title, I offered him 2300 and he said he'd think about it. but I was kinda wondering if you guys would know how much a salvage title could depreciate the value?

I'm not sure about the title, but what kind of "body damage" does it have? If it has even the tiniest speck of rust, I would pass.

No rust just a dent in the front and a dent in the back...oh ya the exhaust is also hella loud, which would need to be fixed but I can probably get done for free..

i would never pay that much for any 92 hatch.

1000 bucks.

my friend got one for 500 once and it was perfect from the tires to the roof with a clean title. wait i lied, he had to get the exhaust repaired cuz it had a touch of rot and rattled.

Salvage title is considered a totalled vehicle regardless of why it was salvaged. I would offer him 2k max even as low as 1700 and he should be happy I offered that much for a totalled 92

Just call him up and tell him you have reconsidered and don't feel comfortable paying that much for a totalled vehicle. If he says it was just theft recovery tell him it makes no difference to anyone but him, the title is still salvage and it is not worth very much at all with the title like that.

I bet he drops price or calls you a jackass...either way you win.
