As far as I know it has no significance to my family in regards to the Nazi element as my grandfather was too young for WWI and too old for WWII. His father as far as I know was born and raised in the states but I am not sure and even then it would have been before turn of the century far before Nazi Germany.

hey leave the guy alone.. that's an amazing find.
my guess is one of 2 things......
1. it was an old chinese thing. possibly some sort of gift to your great great grandparents pre-WWII, back when it had it's actual meaning
(peace and prosperous life)
2. You had some family that were supporting germany in WWII, and that was somewhat of a family heirlume created in honor of a german soldier or something of that sort.
that's pretty cool that you came across that... hopefully it's worth a lot of $$
oh now that i really come to think about it, i remember that we used to have some old drapes and such that had swastika patterns sewn in, with specifi colors giving it more of an "asian" feel.
hells if i know where those went.
