Hardcore computer question
I have two partitions, 1st one installed was Windows XP, 2nd installed is windows 2000 (personal reasons for installing it). Well now my XP cant boot up, "corrupt or missing NTOSKRNL" (i tried replacing it, editing boot.ini, etc still wont boot up).
So now i'm want to fresh install XP again to replace over original XP. I want to be able SAVE my "MY documents/files" etc, but I cant access it because it was password protected making those files inaccessible unless i'm logged in my XP account into that USER NAME.
I cant make it boot up, so is there any options in savaging the files...

i foudn this example "COPY [d:][path]filename [d:][path][filename]" I rarely use dos....
i'll probably do somethign like
"COPY D:\documents and settings\userfolder E:\storage"
does that syntax looks good to copy that directory and save into E: directory

anytime you install an old OS after a new one... the boot loader for the newer one will be corrupted...
in this case you installed 2000 after XP... same case for 98 after Xp, or 98 After 2000.
run the Xp install CD and choose Repair. This will fix the boot loader and allow you to boot both OSes.

I dont see how having it as a slave is any different. Right now i'm running 2000 and another partition, trying to access it..
